This week’s podcast comes from the Oxford vs. Cambridge goat race in East London.
The goat race is the farm based rival to the Oxford vs. Cambridge, and has been steadily growing in popularity since it’s launch seven years ago.
The race sees two pigmy goats, Hugo and Hamish, race each other 200 metres to cheers of encouragement from the East London crowd…well, if we’re totally honest, they aren’t really racing but are instead leisurely strolling behind a keeper trying to get their hooves on a bucket of feed.
It might not be the Grand National, but the race has developed a loyal quirky following who have raised thousands of pounds for Spitalfields City Farm, the event’s location.
This year, Oxford topped off a hat-trick of sporting victories by winning the goat race for the first time in seven years.
However, Hugo the Cambridge goat didn’t look too disappointed by the result.
